Like most churches, First Baptist Lafayette has had a choir for a hundred years. But about 35 years ago an intentional effort was made to present music outside of worship services. These efforts have taken many forms and have happened in several places including the Heymann Center and The Cajundome. This year, the singing Christmas tree continues one of the most popular of these productions in addition to Christmas tree ornaments. From the mid-eighties this program has been a favorite in Acadiana and has been seen by nearly 100,000 people over the years. Revived last year in a Broadway style production with a new tree structure (the most realistic artificial Christmas tree), a new lighting system, and new music THE SINGING CHRISTMAS TREE will entertain but also touch your heart. This elaborate production includes the entire music ministry – children, youth and adult choirs. You may recognize some of the names below who will be a part of the choir in this year’s program.

The setting of this music production is simply marvellous. Even the tree used for this program is artificial, you would find that it is the most realistic artificial Christmas tree. You could actually feel its reality. After the program, the Christmas tree would be auctioned out to raise funds for charity.
